Begin Your Day at Dawn

When Sun rises in the east it heralds the beginning of the day; there are several names given to this phenomenon: Daybreak, Dawn, Sunrise, Sunup and in colloquial term First Light. In several cultures it is known as the “cock crow time”. Though the time given for sunrise in many almanacs refer to the actual sight of the sun rise as seen in the horizon, the dawn, in fact has already happened.

The Rooster perhaps senses this accurate time of dawn and crows much earlier than the red rays of sunlight bathe in the east. Typically, there are three types of dawns: Astronomical, Nautical and Civil. Let me explain in this blog post, the three types of dawn and the astronomy and cosmics related to these. I also take liberty to suggest few activities that go with each type of dawn so that you can implement and see results in terms of improving your life.

Astronomical Dawn

Astronomy

This dawn takes place 72 minutes before the sunrise time at your locality. Let us assume your sun rise time is 6.12 a.m. By deducting 72 minutes you will clock at 5.00 a.m. This time is known as “Astronomical Dawn”. This dawn lasts from 5.00 a.m. till 5.24 a.m. During this 24 minutes time slot you witness what we call as “Astronomical Twilight” where you cannot see things on earth clearly but would be able to see most of the stars in the sky easily. The streaks of sun light from the upper atmosphere lit up the sky and slowly fall on the earth

Cosmics

This is the time your Rooster starts to serenade, urging you to begin your day at dawn. When cock begins to crow it is not only a wake up call but a reminder that the time is too auspicious for you to miss. At this time the angels descend up on the earth bringing glad tidings to everyone. Their arrival is greeted with the chirp of birds and the twinkle of the distant stars. You feel calm and serenity around you and the whiffing of the fresh air. Your mind is in peace and your heart beats slowly

Activities

Arise from your bed, stack the bedding and pillows, wish yourself a good day, stretch your hands, legs and other muscles, say little prayer or hum some music, thereafter make a bee line to the bathroom. Brush your teeth, gargle out, wash your hand and face, sit comfortably on a chair and gulp 4 glasses of water. Thereafter engage in mild work, meditation or just think about your routine for the day. Depending on the type of lifestyle, your level of activities could range between moderate to busy

Nautical Dawn

Astronomy

This dawn takes place 48 minutes before the sunrise time at your locality. Let us assume your sun rise time is 6.12 a.m. By deducting 48 minutes you will clock at 5.24 a.m. This time is known as “Nautical Dawn”. This dawn lasts from 5.24 a.m. till 5.48 a.m. During this 24 minutes time slot you observe what we call as “Nautical Twilight” where you cannot see things on earth clearly or see the dim stars on the sky but would be able to see most of the stars if you are on the sea in a ship or boat. The streak of light from the upper atmosphere lit up the sky and covers the entire sea and major part on the earth

Cosmics

In addition to the bird chirp you find cats mew and dogs bark and most domesticated animals swing into action. Out there vehicular traffic starts as people are getting about in their daily lives. Your family is up; wife is already in the kitchen, children are getting ready for their day in the schools. As you become more active your pulse goes up so is your heart beat. Your mind is working faster and you have lot to do. The scent of the flowers in your backyard pervades in the air and you get a sense of elation going up in your spine

Activities

If you are an outgoing and workaholic personality you start your business life by shuffling the papers and files in your brief case or if you have not brought these into your home on the previous evening you just allow your mind to wade through the basics and priorities of the office. If you are a health and fitness buff you do your callisthenics. If you believe in inner strength you shall continue meditation. If you are sick you need to take your medicine and few breathing exercises as well. Whatever you do you must bring your body and mind together. Focus on the work at hand and then work for the results

Civil Dawn

Astronomy

This dawn takes place 24 minutes before the sunrise time at your locality. Let us assume your sun rise time is 6.12 a.m. By deducting 24 minutes you will clock at 5.48 a.m. This time is known as “Civil Dawn”. This dawn lasts from 5.48 a.m. till sunrise at 6.12 a.m. During this 24 minutes time slot you observe what we call as “Civil Twilight” where you can see things on earth somewhat clearly and bright stars and planets. This is the best time to view both Venus and Mercury provided these planets are just in the horizon. You can also see bright stars such as Sirius. The streak of light from the upper atmosphere lit up the earth fairly well. As you progress towards sunrise you can see the objects in their perspective along with the colour perception

Cosmics

The animal and plant kingdom is brimming with activities: you see the humming bird; you hear the drone of bees and hornets as they whistle past. The world awaits the day break; crimson red rays of the sun quietly fall on the leaves and fruits over the trees and wade through the waterways. Sirens of vehicles are heard and the tempo of activity in your vicinity continues to rise faster. The breakfast is being made and your family is up and running. You sense the warmth of the Sun and feel that the pulse and heartbeats move to higher bands. You are in best fit with an alert mind and equally toned-up physique and look forward to the busy time ahead in your office or business. There is a sense of belonging coupled with the warmth of the day break; that too happens amidst the clearing of the morning dew. The dahlia you planted few weeks ago is budding and the nearby roses begin to dance in twilight. For you it marks sweet scent of success

Activities

Have your morning coffee or tea as the case may be but definitely not a swig of liquor. If necessary use the bathroom again. After a cursory glance at the morning newspapers you say to yourself loud “I am ready”. Go about your routines and welcome the day!

Easy Steps in Effective Breathing

Breathing well is the key to your physical and mental well being. Follow the easy steps in effective breathing outlined in this blog post and see how your cosmics work for you in enhancing your health and in improving your life.

1. Sit comfortably on a chair; keep your spine straight and the chest up. Relax for few minutes. Hold my hand; I shall take you step by step to master the technique of breathing. Let us begin.

2. First learn to inhale and exhale slowly. Inhale slowly for 4 seconds and thereafter exhale slowly for 8 seconds. Once you master it you can increase the time slot of inhaling by 4 seconds interval. Please note that inhaling is the base measure. Your next level is to inhale for 8 seconds and exhale for 16 seconds; go one step above by inhaling for 12 seconds and then exhaling for 24 seconds. For normal persons this is sufficient. But after mastering this basic breathing technique if you wish to do more you can extend the time of inhaling up to 60 seconds, that is, one minute. Remember always that in this case, inhaling is the base measure and that inhaling and exhaling ratio is 1: 2. Repeat for 6 times for good results

3. Now let me add another dimension: Holding the breath. Inhale for 4 seconds afterwards you hold your breath for 16 seconds and thereafter exhale in 8 seconds; as you practise it well you can increase the time slot of inhaling by 4 seconds interval. Your next levels is inhaling for 8 seconds, holding for 32 seconds and exhaling in 16 seconds; improve breathing further by inhaling for 12 seconds, holding 48 seconds and exhaling in 24 seconds. For normal persons this is sufficient. But after mastering this medium level breathing technique, if you wish to do more you can increase the time of inhaling for 60 seconds, that is, one minute. Remember always that in this case inhaling is the base measure and that inhaling, holding and exhaling ratio is 1: 4: 2. Repeat for 6 times for good results

4. I wish to add yet another dimension: Breathless period. Inhale slowly for 4 seconds hold your breath for 16 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds and go breathless for 8 seconds that is do not inhale for 8 seconds. As you practice this well, you can scale up to the next level; now pitch inhaling at 8 seconds, hold breath for 32 seconds, exhale in 16 seconds and being breathless for 16 seconds. Thereafter you can improve further by inhaling for 12 seconds, holding for 48 seconds and exhaling for 24 seconds and being breathless for 24 seconds. For normal persons this is sufficient. But after mastering this advanced breathing technique, if you wish to do more you can increase the time of inhaling for 60 seconds, that is, one minute. Remember always that, in this case, inhaling is the base measure and that inhaling, holding exhaling and being breathless ratio is 1: 4: 2: 2. Repeat for 6 times for good results

5. You can graduate to using alternate nostrils for breathing in and breathing out. The procedure is very simple. First learn to inhale via the right nostril and exhale through the left nostril. Close your left nostril by your right hand ring finger; inhale via right nostril for 4 seconds; hold the breath for 16 seconds; now close your right nostril by your right hand thumb finger. Exhale via the left nostril for 8 seconds; thereafter stay breathless, that is, without inhaling for 8 seconds. This is the first part of the cycle.

The second part of the cycle is to alternate the nostril. Now it is the turn of inhaling via the left nostril and exhaling through the right nostril. Close your right nostril by your right hand thumb finger; inhale via left nostril for 4 seconds; hold the breath for 16 seconds, now close your left nostril by right hand ring finger. Exhale via the right nostril for 8 seconds; thereafter stay breathless, that is, without inhaling for 8 seconds. Once this is done the full cycle is over. Repeat the full cycle for 6 times.

But after mastering this highly advanced breathing technique, if you wish to do more you can increase the time of inhaling up to 60 seconds, that is, one minute. Remember always that, inhaling is the base measure and that inhaling, holding, exhaling and being breathless ratio is 1: 4: 2: 2.

How to Drink Water?

Drinking water is too mundane a topic to be discussed in a blog post, so you might think. It is not so. Many of you drink water, and plenty of it. But are you doing it in right manner? This blog post details few tips on how to drink water to facilitate improving your life.

Why should you Drink Water?

Water extinguishes your thirst like nothing else. When you drink water you get nourishment for your system and inner satisfaction which nothing on earth is capable of giving you. Not only that, like diamond cutting diamond water flushes out water. It is like this: your body is made of 70 percent water and at a given time you have a varied quantum of water within you. A part of this water is termed as excess water. If you have excess water, it remains in your body either as still, deep or stagnant water yielding mainly undesirable effects. The only way to flush out this excess water is to drink more water, which once taken in drives out the excess water by way of urination, sweat or faecal matter and rejuvenates the body. More water intake helps all of your organs to function effectively, chiefly amongst these are the kidneys and liver which handle purification, metabolism and other functions. Salt is diluted toxins are flushed out and fat is made soluble by these systems working along with the water you intake. Additionally, your expelling systems work in full capacity enabling you to move your bowels seamlessly and urinate effortlessly.

A healthy and active person requires a maximum of 16 glasses of water where each such glass contains 8 fluids once. However, the normal standard hovers around 8 to 12 glasses per day per person. During hot season you require more water than in the cold season to replace water losses due to sweat or heat absorption. Many of you can drink water just plain; you can also add slices of lemon or lime to savour an appealing taste.

Cosmics of Water

If you have more water in your system you sway others by your speech and actions. Most artists and celebrities have water as their predominant element. Watery person has the ability to listen to others even tough they tend to take decisions on their own. Water helps in intuition, mobility and balance. On the negative side it can make you emotional and tend to act out of your impulse leading to lot of misunderstanding. If you do not drink sufficient quantum of water excess water can stagnate as still, deep or stagnant water and pushes you into cocoon shell as an isolated person. Your active family and business life could be impaired as you start shunning social life. Many of you could suffer from depressions and mood swings as well. Less intake of water gives rise to various diseases and fungus of skin. From an active and leading lifestyle you will be condemned to work on the beck and call of others as a galley slave.

Drink More Water

1. After you awake from sleep in the morning, brush your teeth and then gargle out; thereafter drink one gutful of water that is 4 glasses of water. Allow time slot of 45 minutes to one hour to lapse before you intake anything. If you do this regularly your bowels move easily and toxins within your system are flushed out conveniently

2. Once you reach your office or college, sit down and drink one glass of water before you start working or studying, to re-ignite your system

3. When you return home in the evening after work or study, sit down and drink two glasses of water; allow space of 30 minutes before you intake anything to give you space

4. At normal times you drink during the course of the day, one glass of water on the hour or on 90 minutes interval as the case may be to keep activity  and health on even keel

5. When you are sick, drink two glasses of water on the hour for six times during the day; this lessens ill-effects from any type of diseases

6. Whenever you are low in spirits or going through depression take one glass of water add a tea spoon of honey savour with lemon or lime and drink it in three gulps

Drink Less Water

1. Just after swim, shower or bath take 3 mouthfuls of water equivalent to half a glass to get energy flowing into your system

2. Just before the meals intake half glass of water to tune up your appetite; after the meals you must not exceed the quota of half glass of water

3. After engaging in sports or physicals drink half glass of water, have glucose or citrus fruit drink and top up with another half glass of water

4. Whenever you have a fall or injury drink half glass of water preferably with one table spoon of honey mixed with it

5. After taking medicine, unless the doctor has specifically forbidden it, always take half glass of water

Do Not Drink Water

1. Avoid drinking water when your body is bathed in sweat; allow few minutes space

2. Do not drink water inside the kitchen or in front of stove, microwave ovens etc. You should move away from there and spend few minutes before you drink water

3. It is bad do drink water when you are panting a lot due to exercise or walking or due to asthmatic effects

4. Never drink water immediately after engaging in sex acts.

Good Days for taking Bath, Shower or Swim

Not all days are same in terms of cosmics; some days are cold some are dry; still others can be moist. Depending on the day of the week a particular element comes into force. Taking a bath, shower or swim must take into account of the peculiarities of each day. This blog post helps you to do just that; it helps you change your life style and cosmics and improving your life too.

Brief

We begin from Sunday and work through the seven days. Each day is divided into two parts: Day & Night. Day begins from the Sunrise and ends with Sun down. Night begins from Sunset and ends on the following morning with the Sunup. The Seven Planets own different day and different night segments. I have followed the system of planet ownership as given by Abdul Rahman Mohammed bin Ahmad Al-Biruni (Al-Biruni), the famous Arab Astronomer.

Sunday

Day: Owned by the Sun Hot & Dry Planet. You should avoid taking bath or shower inside a closed place; no harm if you go for swim in morning hours in “open to the sky” areas such as pool, pond, river or sea. Those who suffer from skin ailments are recommended to be in bath-tub during morning hours.

Cosmics: You have a sense of reversal; computer guys call it “reverse engineering”; cure and cathartic effect; for senior citizens it may result in loss of energy

Night: Owned by Mercury, Moderately Cold & Dry planet. A shower is recommended.

Cosmics: You feel relieved of pain or stress but at the same time you see pulse and heart-beat going up. Typically body temperature is balanced; occasionally it could lead to imbalance.

Monday

Day: Owned by the Moon, Cold & Moist planet. Universally recommended as good day for taking bath, shower or swim; except for those who suffer from asthma or lung-related disorders and those who are born with their Moon in Cancer constellation.

Cosmics: You notice lightness and opalescence within you along with a feeling of elation.

Night: Owned by Jupiter, Moderately Warm & Moist planet. Bath, shower or swim within house or under a roof is recommended.

Cosmics: You get pleasantness in and around you along with soft, smooth and refreshed skin in your body.

Tuesday

Day: Owned by Mars, Very Hot & Dry planet. You should avoid taking bath, shower or swim inside house or outside. Those who are suffering from heat related disorders and those who come under evil spirits should opt for a bath or shower inside house under supervision.

Cosmics: You observe that heat generated inside you goes down initially and picks up afterwards; it can lead to dryness of skin and coarseness in speech. To balance, take fruits or fruit juice with sugar or honey after 30 minutes of bath or shower.

Night: Owned by Venus, Moderately Cold & Moist planet. Taking bath, shower or swim is very helpful to students, white colour workers who use brain rather than brawn. Specially recommended for women who suffer from female sexual dysfunction

Cosmics: You get a balming sense in your nerves and ripening of intellectual, artistic and sexual energy within.

Wednesday

Day: Owned by Mercury, Moderately Cold & Dry planet. It is customary to take bath, shower or swim in many cultures on this day. In Tamil there is a saying that “Even if you give gold you won’t get a Wednesday”. Students and adolescents must take a bath, shower or swim.

Cosmics: Relaxed with enthusiasm to do more of studies or work. An early morning bath or shower is preferred; for swimming it must be after 10.00 a.m.

Night: Owned by Saturn, Very Cold & Dry Planet. Shower or swim is recommended for those who go out in the evening on date or dancing or those who engage in work-out or sports; long distance travellers must take a shower or swim. In the case of women with dry skin suitable cream or lotion must be applied after shower or swim. Those who are suffering from catarrh or severe lung related disorders are recommended to daub wet towel over their body instead of shower or swim

Cosmics: slow burning heat with excessive dryness for people with heaty temperament; intense cold with moderate dryness for people with cold temperament.

Thursday

Day: Owned by Jupiter, Moderately Warm & Moist planet. Bath, shower or swim within house or “open to the sky” areas such as pool, pond, river or sea is generally recommended. Specially recommended for pregnant women, nursing women, convalescing patients or senior citizens. Those who intend to commence any business undertaking should take bath or shower in the early hours.

Cosmics: All round pleasantness, easiness, a sense of deja vous; feeling of smoothness inside and a sweet smell of success outside.

Night: Owned by the Sun Hot & Dry Planet. Take a bath, shower or swim after 9.00 p.m. Generally recommended for party-goers, those who engage in physical work, exercise or sports. Pregnant women, nursing mothers and convalescing patients should avoid wetting their bodies during night.

Cosmics: Feeling of satisfaction for those engage in physical work; for others it could lead to worn-out feeling, emptiness and loss of stamina.

Friday

Day: Owned by Venus, Moderately Cold & Moist planet. Both Hindu and Islamic cultures recommend taking bath or shower on Fridays. It is specifically recommended for women of all ages; for those who are in the spiritual path; and at the mundane level for those who had sexual relations. Celebrities and artists should splash cool and refreshing water over them.

Cosmics: Most refreshing; balming sense pervades in the body and mind; upliftment of intellectual and spiritual power; rise and satiation of Kundalini

Night: Owned by the Moon, Cold & Moist planet. Bath, shower or swim is recommended for those who study for an examination or engaged in the field of arts such as music and dancing. Bath inside a tub is recommended for those men who suffer from sexual deficiency such as erectional dysfunction. Asthmatic patients must avoid getting into water.

Cosmics: Inwardly penetrating; balances the energy of earth and water consequently you get a feeling of confidence and sexual maturity.

Saturday

Day: Owned by Saturn, Very Cold & Dry Planet. Bath, shower or swim is recommended for those who go out or engage in exercise or sports. Truants must be forced to take a shower at-least. Those who get criminal feeling inside their mind can get away from it by taking a swim in morning hours in “open to the sky” areas such as pool, pond, river or sea. Those who are experiencing financial or carer difficulties would derive benefit by taking a bath or shower inside house. Women who have given birth can take bath on alternate Saturdays after applying suitable oil or cream. Those who are suffering from catarrh or severe lung related disorders are recommended to take bath every Saturday.

Cosmics: Cold and dryness that is experienced in the beginning would be moderated towards the end resulting in a slow and steady rise of internal delight along with an energised body. To get the best of cosmics take bath, shower or swim before 11.00 a.m.

Night: Owned by Mars, Very Hot & Dry planet. You should avoid taking bath, shower or swim inside house or outside, unless you are fruit bat.

Cosmics: Leads to dryness of skin and coarseness in speech. Habitual bathers or swimmers of Saturday night get fevers, heat strokes, sharp and hot temperament resulting in imbalance in their systems. If you are compelled to take bath or swim then eat lot of fruits or fruit juice with sugar or honey after 30 minutes of bath or swim.

Conserve Cosmic Energy while taking a Shower

Taking a shower or bath is one of the best ways to relax yourself after a hard days work. Most of you get into the shower turn the tap and start wetting yourself head on. Some do wear scalp cups but let the water fall on your body straight away. Some of you do a quick shower before plunging into the swimming pool. Similarly when you go for a bath you get into tub pronto with your full body. Immersing the entire body immediately under a shower or inside the bath is very much counter-productive to your original idea of relaxing and harmonizing your cosmic energy. Of course you clean yourself from the dirt and sweat. But, in that process you have lost vast quantum of cosmic energy. In this blog post I am sketching the steps you should follow in taking a shower or bath. Stick to this and your cosmics work best for you.

A)  Steps in taking shower or bath

1. Turn on the shower and wet you right leg knee downward; if you are getting into the bath tub place your right foot inside the tub and pour water from the right knee downward

2. Now let the shower head spray water on to your left leg knee downward; if you are getting into the bath tub place your left foot inside the tub and pour water from the left knee downward

3. Turn the shower head to spray the water to your right thigh from the hip downward; if you are in the bath tub pour water over the right thigh from hip downward

4. Now let the shower head spray water on to your left thigh from the hip downward; if you are in the bath tub pour water over the left thigh from hip downward

5. Turn the shower head to spray the water to your right shoulder from the neck downward; if you are in the bath tub pour water over the right shoulder from the neck downward

6. Now let the shower head spray water on to your left shoulder from the neck downward; if you are in the bath tub pour water over the left shoulder from the neck downward

7. Turn the shower head to spray water to your face; if you are in the bath tub pour daub water over your face. At this point your chest, back and stomach all would receive springing of water

8. The last step is to wet you head if you so wish.

B)  Steps in applying soap or shampoo

Applying soap, liquid wash or shampoo is on the reverse order of the steps outlined for taking shower or bath.

1. If you are wetting your head start with shampooing your scalp gently and mildly with fingers massaging your head working backward from your forehead.

2. If you are not wetting the head, start applying soap to your face, ears and neck but without harming your eyes

3. Thereafter apply soap to your left shoulder neck downward

4. Now apply soap to your right shoulder neck downward

5. You should then apply soap to chest, back and stomach area

6. Thereafter apply soap to your left thigh hip downward

7. Now apply soap to your right thigh hip downward

8. Thereafter apply soap to your left leg knee downward

9. Now apply soap to your right leg knee downward

Once you have finished applying soap and shampoo follow the steps outlined under (A) “Steps in taking shower or bath” to rinse your body off the shampoo and soap buds.

C)  Steps in wiping your body dry

 

1. If you have wetted your head, start with the head gently wiping head without hurting your hair

2. If you have not wetted the head, then start dabbing the towel gently on your face, ears and neck. Care should be taken regarding your eyes.

3. Go on to wipe the right shoulder dry neck downward

4. Now turn to your left shoulder and wipe it dry from neck downward

5. Run the towel to your chest, back and stomach and dry these areas

6. Go on to wipe the right thigh dry hip downward

7. Now turn to your left thigh and wipe it dry from hip downward

8. Go on to wipe the right leg dry from knee downward; work up to your toes

9. Now turn to your left leg and wipe it dry from knee downward; work up to your toes

Once this is over you will feel that you are very much relaxed with abundant cosmic energy within you.

Improve Your Life with Honey

You have already an Honey with you; your wife or girl friend who remains your source of inspiration and support. Likewise, you need Honey, this time the sweet yellowish to golden fluid produced by the honey bees. You will ask me why honey and what it does for me. In this blog post I describe what made me to study honey, the features of honey and the cosmics of honey to improve your life.

What made me to study Honey

About 35 years ago, I was posted as manager of a bank branch in a remote area in the eastern part of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). During weekends, I scoot off to the jungles and parley with aborigines known as Veddhas. Highly hospitable group the Veddhas find their food by hunting.  Since hunting animals depend on season and chance they preserve the meat in honey. I have relished on venison and other meats preserved by the number of full moons as they do not use calendars to tell us the time.  Honey can preserve contents soaked with it for a long time.

In contrast, I found a different feature; this time not preservation but disintegration, when I travelled to the northern area of Ceylon known as Wanni where  settlement of farmers live.  I was given a special treat: A part of honey hive with the head of cobra inside. The poor soul has got into the hive with its hood and part of its upper body. Entrapped it was not able to get out. The cobra  died; the part outside the bee hive got rotten and has fallen off. The part of cobra inside the beehive was disintegrated into honey. The cobra’s hood was still visible as a film but no physical body could be seen. I joined my hosts to relish on this wonder. What happened to the cobra’s poison? All that were disintegrated perhaps.

Honey, like your wife or girl friend can make you or break you. It can preserve or it can disintegrate. It can make you fat or make you thin. It heals diarrhoea or can increase loose motion. On the top of the line, it boosts your sex drive or dull your libido.

Features

  1. Honey is produced by honey bees known as apis mellifera from nectar of flowers in the vicinity of the beehive. A complex regurgitation process takes place where the bees transform nectar into the viscous fluid.   2. If you feel tired constantly, without any reason for this state, better take honey three times a day after meals. Allow one hour interval before you drink or eat  thereafter

Gems for Menarche or Puberty

The first time when menstruation takes place is referred to as “Menarche” in medical parlance and “Puberty” in popular language. To understand the subject of menstruation we need to study Menarche, Premenstrual syndrome, Menstrual Disorders and Menopause. I have already written about the second and third topics in earlier blog posts. You can read about these by clicking “Gems for Premenstrual Syndrome” and “Gems and Cosmics for Menstrual Disorders”. All these topics are invariably linked to lunation cycle. In this blog post let me give you a Ready Reckoner of Gems & Crystals for Menarche or Puberty.

How to use the Ready Reckoner?

Record the time and date when the flow of menses takes place for the first time. Thereafter, find out the lunar day for this time and date. I must explain to you that lunar day and solar day are not equal. Lunar days vary in duration, some days less than 24 hours and other days more than 24 hours. You can check the lunar day in any astronomical lunar day calculators freely available in the Internet. It would be better to check the one that gives you the lunar day in decimals. A lunar day falls into one of the eight phases in the Lunation Cycle. These phases are also known as “moon phases”. The eight phases are: new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter and waning crescent. The last one is also known as “balsamic moon”. Each lunar phase has different cosmic vibration. You can read about these in my blog post “ Lunation Cycle: How the Eight Lunar Phases affect you?

My advice is that you use an astronomical software to find out the lunar day rather than ticking off lunar phases (moon phases) given in any astrological software. Since lunar day is an astronomical event it would be better to check with an astronomical lunar day calculator. Once you know the lunar date check the Ready Reckoner to find out the lunar phase and the suitable Gems & Crystals for you.

Gems for Premenstrual Syndrome

Majority of menstruating women do have some sort of premenstrual difficulties. As far as these do not affect and interfere with the normal life these can be taken as granted. But when such premenstrual syndrome (PMS), also known as Premenstrual Tension (PMT) affects and interferes in the normal life then it is necessary to take care. About 80% the menstruating women in the age group of 20 to 45 years have signs of PMS; some are affected lightly whereas many others have fairly difficult times. In this latter group the experience varies a lot. In some months PMS is easy going whereas in other months it becomes a major issue. Moreover, about 7 percent of the menstruating women suffer from a serious condition medically known as “Premenstrual Disphoric Disorder (PMDD)”, which needs specialized treatment and care.

To understand the subject of menstruation we need to study the beginning of the menstrual flow known as menarche, pre-menstrual syndrome, menstrual disorders and menopause. All these are invariably linked to lunation cycle. I have in a previous blog post explained menstrual disorders. In this blog post let me give you some ideas about the premenstrual syndrome; its nature, symptoms, causes and the treatment based on Cosmics and Gems and Crystals. A word of caution: cosmic treatment should be tweaked to individual circumstances for its effectiveness.

1. Premenstrual Syndrome

Basically, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is defined as “severe symptoms interfering with the normal course of life”. Though PMS is defined, neither its symptoms nor the causes are easily determined; this is due to a wide variety of symptoms and causes. PMS can be understood only if menstruating women keep a proper record. Therefore, they are well advised to record the date they begin to experience these symptoms and the day these symptoms disappear; the date menses begins and the day menses ends. Generally PMS disappear on the day the Menses begins.

Generally, on the 14th day after your period began, the ovary releases an egg; at this time the level of progesterone rises whereas the level of estrogen drops. Along with the level of estrogen, Serotonin a neurotransmitter released by the brain also drops. This triggers the condition of PMS. See my blog post “Gems and Cosmics for Menstrual Disorders“for the inter-play between these two hormones, that is, progesterone and estrogen.

Symptoms: The symptoms are broadly psychological and physical.

Psychology: Anxiety, anger, tension, depression, irritability, mood swings and emotions are the chief characteristics along with conditions such as insomnia, withdrawal from social and familial activities. Some women have craving for more food while others wish to fast.

Physical: Conditions include fatigue, head-ache, nausea, joint & muscle pain. Many women develop tender breasts and nipples; some have bloating abdomen accompanied with weight gain. Either constipation or diarrhoea affects few women resulting in missing meals or drinking too much of water. In rare cases there are abdominal cramps.

Causes: These are classifies into three types. Primary and secondary causes and the third one identified by me as “un-declared causes”.

Primary: Hormonal fluctuation along with low Serotonin level is the primary cause for PMS

Secondary: Family history, psychic condition, history of depression, stress, over- work, travelling, absence of vitamins and minerals, alcohol, high salt intake, carbonated or caffeinated beverages are chief items

Un-declared: Many women have underlying un-declared causes; chaotic family life, suppressed emotions, difficult relationships with opposite sex, un-satisfied sex life, absence of orgasm are prominent.

Premenstrual Disphoric Disorder (PMDD): This condition is of serious nature with physical disability coupled with anaemia and psychological issues such as severe form of depression, anxiety, high irritability and difficulties in focus or concentration. It is mainly caused by psychic conditions and sometimes by nervous issues

Application: Apply either primrose oil or sesame oil on your head and lower abdomen twice a day morning and evening.

Aroma: Make jasmine as your base aroma; you can use it as Spray or Attar upon your upper body area above navel and below neck; rose, lavender, lily or gardenia air-fresheners are also recommended

Seven Stages of Sleep

You need sleep; it makes you relax; provides you rest; enables your body to produce and release hormones; repairs body-cells. After a good night’s sleep you awake in the morning as fresh as spring. In sleep you go through a number of stages. Nobody can get into bed and start sleeping soundly, immediately. You go through a cycle of sleep patterns which are called as stages of sleep. In this blog post I describe the Seven Stages of Sleep. First three stages involve body and mind. In the fourth stage the soul enters, but inactive. In the last three stages it is the soul that directs operations, pushing body and mind inactive.

A) Body & Mind

Psychologists have studied the process of sleep on the basis of the inter-play between body and mind. They negate a role for the soul. The stages of sleep with the inter-play of body and mind are described below:

1. Stage One: Light Sleep

This is the beginning where you lie down in the bed and attempt to catch-up sleep. The body slows down gradually; muscle activity is low except for occasional twitching. By this time you experience about 50 % reduction in body activity. Brain is active; it sends out theta waves with a speed of 4 to 7 cycles per second. Generally the stage lasts about 5 to 20 minutes from the time you get into the bed. You spend just about 5 % of the total sleep time in this stage.

2. Stage Two: Moderate Sleep

As you move to this stage your breathing pattern stabilizes; heart-rate slows. Muscle activity goes up and corresponds with the brain activity emanating both positive and negative waves. Still the brain sends out theta waves. Overall body temperature increases slightly and your body prepares itself for the next stage of deep sleep. You spend around 25 to 40 minutes in this stage. Overall about 50 % of your total sleep time is spent in this stage.

3. Stage Three: Deep Sleep

As you proceed to this stage your body has slowed down to its barest minimum, with very little muscle activity. Your breathing is fairly rhythmic. The brain sends out delta waves, very slow, from 1 to 4 cycles per second. You spend around 50 to 60 minutes in this stage before moving to the next. Overall, 15 to 20 % of your total sleep time is spent in this stage. Mild, moderate and deep sleep account for 80 to 120 minutes before you go to the stage of dream sleep. Most of the times you will go to and fro, between moderate and deep sleeps before you get into the dream sleep.

4. Stage Four: Dream Sleep

As the name says, this stage is where you start dreaming. You see visions like as if you are watching a cinema or TV show. As a result you have rapid eye movements, where eyes move left and right, up and down; hovering eyes as if you are travelling. Hence, this stage is known as “Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep”. Except for your eyes most of your body is in paralysis. As you start dreaming, the brain releases an amino acid called Glycine that makes your muscles immobile. This is the nature’s way of safeguarding, otherwise while you dream you may tend to act out of it. For example, you dream raging fire in a nearby bush that gives you fright and you run for cover. Physically you can’t run out of the bed because your muscles are immobile, but in the dream you do that.

You will experience this paralysis particularly in the chin to neck area. However occasional twitching of muscle takes place in face, fingers and sometimes in the legs. Your heart-rate speeds up; brain waves speed up. The brain sends out alpha waves with a speed of 8 to 13 cycles per second. Incidentally, you experience alpha waves while you are awake and alert as well. Your body temperature is up. You spend around 10 to 60 minutes in dream stage. You see sequences of dream which last something like 5 to 20 minutes. The sequences vary in time length and in numbers. Overall you spend about 20 to 25 % of your total sleep time in dream sleep.

B)  Body, Mind and Soul

After the dream stage you will step down to deep, moderate and mild sleep and once again the cycle begins. So in sleeping you go through the stages in a number of cycles and wake up in the morning fresh. So far the stages relate to the inter-play between body and mind. At the Fourth stage, that is, Dream Sleep something remarkable happens. The soul enters the equation. If you size up with the soul you can go through the fifth, sixth and seventh stages. Otherwise you have to be satisfied with one to four stages only.

The abode of soul called “Lathifa Ruhi” in Arabic is on the right chest, from where it emits Cosmics in combination of colour rays including the ones in the rainbow. These cosmics are targeted on the abode of mind called “Lathifa Qalbi” on the left chest. These cosmics are in-visible. From the birth time till death a person receives trillions of cosmic colour darts from the soul.

When soul takes command, it departs from your body on journeys outward, temporarily ceasing the emitting of cosmics. Hence, the last three stages are called journeys; mild, moderate and deep journeys. Here the body is placed as if in a coma. Brain emits zero cycle delta waves, too slow to be reckoned with.

5. Stage Five: Mild Journey

In this stage Soul goes on journey in the known universe; it breaks the Time barrier. Soul can travel in timeless fashion in past or future. Soul can see, hear, touch, smell but cannot speak. Soul acts in passive manner, that is, it would not interfere in the activities of others. Furthermore, soul cannot move out of terrestrial (earth) boundary. This stage is similar to the meditation phase of “Shahood” ( Evidence) experienced by the Sufis.

6. Stage Six: Moderate Journey

In this stage the soul goes a step higher, breaking the Time and Space barriers. Soul can see, hear, touch, smell and speak, but cannot taste. Soul acts in positive manner, that is. It can intervene in the actions of others. For example, soul can arbitrate a settlement between two feuding brothers. Moreover, soul would travel in the celestial arena as well – bypassing stars, planets and other celestial bodies. This stage is similar to the meditation phase of “Fatah” ( Victory) experienced by the Sufis.

7. Stage Seven: Deep Journey

In this stage , soul goes much higher, breaking Time, Space and Being barriers. Soul can see, hear, touch, smell, speak and taste. Soul acts in inclusive manner, that is, soul can command as well as carry out tasks. For example, soul can order the angels to save astronauts from an exploding space station and goes to the scene to bail them out. This stage is similar to the meditation phase of “Fanaa” ( Extinction) experienced by the Sufis.

After the journeys are over, soul returns to the body; re-start emitting of cosmics in colour rays. At this moment the brain speeds up delta waves from zero to a positive integer per second. The record of the events in the journey is then implanted into the brain. It is something similar to the use of flash/pen drive for our external work and loading it to the base computer. Consequently, the mind can remember the journeys very well: angels singing, genies squirming and birds serenading.

Gems & Cosmics for Sleeping Disorders

Joe, 62 years old war veteran spend most of the night time rolling on the bed trying to get some sleep. When he wakes up in the morning he has slept just about one third of the time in the bed; he has insomnia. Helen 21 years reading for her bio-technology degree cannot sleep in the night but falls sleeping by 4.00 a.m. in the morning. As she has to go to college in the morning she interrupts her sleep consequently she dozes off while in class and falls in her grades; she has “delayed sleep phase syndrome” (DSPS). Tommy aged 42 a car salesman sleeps irregular hours and is suffering from sleep disruption. All of them have one thing in common: Sleeping Disorders. But none of them have taken medical advice let alone cosmic advice. In the long-run they would develop serious complications in health and life-style. In this blog post I describe sleep and sleeping disorders; I recommend the gems & crystals for the use of specific type of disorders and the Cosmics to go with, in general form. As usual any recommendation needs to be structured to individual circumstances which are ascertained after finding your cosmic profile.

1. Sleep & Sleeping Disorders

Every person requires good sleep; children sleep for 11 to 12 hours; teens need about 9 to 10 hours which they hardly get; adults require about 7 to 8 hours which they neglect. It is defined as inability to fall sleep and while at sleep inability to maintain sleep for a reasonable time. Symptoms include, waking –up frequently, arising in early hours and no sleep thereafter, sleep not giving you feeling of freshness in the morning, feeling tired and exhausted, painful eyes, giddiness, head-ache, nervous break-down etc. Insomnia accounts for nearly 70 % of the sleeping disorders. The incidence is much pronounced in the case of seniors over 40 years of age and those who suffer from chronic ailments such arthritis and diabetes.

Fear, anxiety, stress, medication, excessive caffeine, pain are general causes for this condition. Life-style changes such as longer night-life, over-stimulation of mind by watching films and erotic scenes, physical exertion such as gym work or walking in the late evenings, taking after-noon siesta are specific causes for sleeping ailments. Special situations such as pregnancy, depression, chronic ailments also cause this malady.

A condition where the flow of air to the lungs via nose or throat is disturbed, usually triggering snore. At some point the breathing is halted with a sudden attempt made to revive breathing. Generally it affects seniors past 50 years of age. This would make them sleep more.

3.2 Restless Legs Syndrome

A neurological disorder triggering un-pleasant sensation in one or both legs with an urge to move legs while at sleep. Causes include nervousness, kidney problems, pregnancy, aging factor, deficiency of iron.

3.3 Narcolespy

This is a neurological disorder that prompts you to fall asleep suddenly in the day time. It affects students and seniors alike; it is due to the brain taking a rest something similar to heart-attack but with a benign motive, because you sleep for about 15 to 20 minutes at maximum. When this interrupts your work schedule or become malignant it needs attention.

4. Disruptions

Basically disruptions occur when you cannot stick to a regular pattern in terms of duration as well as timing. Few of these are given under:

Sleep walking: This is in a class of its own being classified under several disorders including sleeping. Under this condition the person while at sleep is engaged in actions such as walking and talking as if in the wakeful state

5.2. Postures

Yoga-asanas (postures) are very useful in tackling sleeping disorders. A general all-purpose asana is the Bala-asana ( child) which relaxes your muscle and brain simultaneously. On the other hand Shava-asana( corpse) is much suitable for insomnia, making your body motionless and mind relaxed. You must do this few minutes before the bed time; lie on the floor legs and hand straight; close your eyes; now start relaxing your legs first by directing negative energy away from it and come upward till you reach the head. At this moment you are in perfect balance with both positive and negative energy. Take care you do not fall asleep doing the asana. Once the asana is over retire to bed promptly.

Shirasa-asana (head) is good for hypersomnia but seniors might find it difficult to perform. If you can, do this in the morning only. I recommend Sarvanga-asana( shoulder) for both insomnia and disruptions. This asana would induce dream-sleep and make you fresh every morning.

5.3. Gesture

A special favourite is Gyaan Mudra ( gesture). Sit comfortably on the floor on Sukha-asana ((easy) or Ardha-Padma-asana (half-locust). Touch the tip of the index finger with the tip of the thumb of both hands and form a circle; keep the other three fingers straight pointing upward. Bring both hands perpendicular to your lungs so that right hand is opposite right lung and the left hand to left lung. Breathe normally; stay for 7 or 14 minutes as you please. Repeat daily both in the morning and just before the bed time.

Caution: you must do these Yoga- asanas only after training by a Yoga expert

5.4. Food

Eat food made out of whole wheat or grams; specially Green grams; Ghee; Green vegetables; Fruits with seeds; onions & garlic; milk and dairy products; Walnuts, Almonds & Oats; Peanuts & hazelnuts; peas & beans; sunflower and sesame seeds; asparagus; Avoid hot and spicy food; no alcohol; absolutely no meat products.

5.5. Colour

Selection of colour depends of each person and his moods and predominant element within him. Your bed–room shall be painted with a colour that is conducive for sleeping well. Generally, purple colour is recommended for sound and deep sleep resulting in what we call “REM sleep” where you tend to dream a lot. Sky-blue colour acts as calming and cooling agent whereas red stimulates by generating hot waves. Orange and sea-green are in the middle course. Seniors need light yellow more than other colours.

5.6 Bath

Depending on your nature and predominant element within you, you can take a cold or warm bath before the bed-time on alternate days. Use either of the combination below:

Combination one: few drops of Rose and Geranium oil

Combination two: few drops of Patchouli and Lemon oil

5.7. Aroma

I strongly suggest the use of aroma in your bed-room moments before you retire to bed. Use Air-freshener or Humidifier or Potpourri. The latter is made of glass; underneath you will find a place for a candle or electrical light. Pour water to the dish over Humidifier or Potpourri and heat it gradually. Thereafter, sprinkle the recommended aromatic oil

* For ladies: Lavender & Neroli on alternate nights

* For Men: Chamomile & lemongrass on alternate nights

5.8 General Tips

* Wear comfortable preferably cotton clothes

* Keep the bed room tidy, quiet, airy with appropriate temperature

* Listen to soft music and view natural scenery before sleep

* Take it easy

Most women suffer silently from menstrual disorders in some stage of their lives. Beginning at the age of 12 to 13 when they are budding girls, the menstrual flow otherwise known as menses or period recurs almost monthly till they reach menopause generally after 45 years of age. Normally the menstrual cycle lasts 7 days: two days for the on-set, three days for the flow and two days to wrap-up. In many cultures this cycle is linked to the lunation cycle of the moon. The lucky women have a perfect cycle of 7 days with less pain, less bleeding and at the end of the cycle a feeling of rejuvenation, mirth and lot of zing. But that is only a dream for many. In most cases they have complications. When this happens they have menstrual disorders.

To understand the subject of menstruation we need to study the beginning of the menstrual flow known as menarche, lunation cycles, pre-menstrual syndrome and menopause. I shall explain these subjects in future blog posts. In this blog post let me give you some ideas about the menstrual disorders, cosmic solution for menstrual disorders using Gems & Crystals along with Yoga-asanas (postures), Mudra (Gesture) Pranayama (Breathing), Food, Colour, Aroma and Sunlight. However, the need to tweak such solution to individual circumstances cannot be over-emphasised.

1. Menstrual Disorders

Menstruation is the discharge of blood, fluid and mucus from the lining of mucus membrane of the uterus called as Endometrium. Typically, menstruation begins when two hormones in the body of women are at their lowest levels. These hormones are: estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen is the female sex hormone responsible for the development and maintenance of reproductive organs. Progesterone on the other hand, is a steroid involved in the menstruation cycle supporting pregnancy. Towards the end of menstruation cycle the ovaries produce more estrogen which is carried through the blood stream regulating the uterus to control the menstrual flow; still the level of progesterone should remain low. Typically the cycle of menstrual period is 28 days in keeping with the lunation cycle. However, cycles between 21 to 35 days are perfectly normal.

You are aware that Hypothalamus a part of the brain controls systems such as nervous system endocrine systems etc., in the body. Acting via the Pituitary gland which is located just at the bottom of it, Hypothalamus regulates activity such as growth, blood pressure and reproduction. Both Hypothalamus and Pituitary gland guide Thyroid gland located in the throat to regulate metabolism and organs connected with menstruation. So menstruation is the constant inter-play of the Hypothalamus and Pituitary & Thyroid glands and the ovaries. When this inter-play is interrupted or the menstrual flow is accompanied with excessive bleeding, pain and cramps it is called menstrual disorders. Medically it is caused either by an imbalance in the hormones, dysfunction of organs, anaemia, stress, infection or general disability.

Cosmically it is caused by the arrangement of the celestial bodies at the time of your birth. In eastern cultures the arrangement of celestial bodies at the time of menarche (first occurrence of menses in a girl) is also taken into count. In these cultures, the puberty is celebrated with the girl segregated for 7 days afterwards a celebration is made with incantation to the Moon. It is significant to note that incidence of menstrual disorders is less in eastern cultures compared to western culture. The inter-play of these vital organs and endocrine system in your body is invariably connected to the Moon and other Planets. The moon is responsible for Hypothalamus, Thyroid and the Ovaries whereas Pituitary gland is under the governance of Saturn. The planet Mars is responsible for blood – stream while Venus is boss of fluid and mucus. Let me give you few examples of the planetary arrangement:

2.7 Polymenorrhea

4. Gesture

Either stand straight on Tada-asana (mountain) posture or sit on the floor on Padma-asana (lotus) posture and practise the mudra (gesture) known as Yoni Mudra. Form both hands into an almond shape by joining the thumbs that look upward and the rest of the fingers looking downwards. Do this mudra so that the centre of the almond is tallied with your navel. Do this for about seven minutes in the morning and evening during menses and few days before and after the menses. For your benefit I am showing a picture of the Yoni formation.

5. Breathing

You can practise Pranayama(breathing) by sitting on the floor on Sidha Yoni-asana and follow the 4-16-8-8 breathing technique. The procedure is very simple. Close your left nostril by your thumb finger; inhale via right nostril for a count of 4; hold the breath for a count of 16; now close your right nostril. Exhale via the left nostril for a count of 8; thereafter stay without inhaling for a count of 8. This is the first part of the cycle. The second part of the cycle is to alternate the nostril. Now it is the turn of inhaling via the left nostril and exhaling via the right nostril. Once this is done the full cycle is over. Repeat the full cycle for 7 to 14 times. When you start you may find it difficult to hold breath for a count of 16 or being breathless for a count of 8. So start low and build momentum gradually.

Caution: you must do these Yoga- asanas only after training by a Yoga expert

6. Food

Black olives & black caviar are the best food during menstruation. Go for seaweed and the jelly made out of it; dried figs and leaves of the rose plants have more cosmic resonance. Sesame, flax seed and olive oil are best used in cooking and olive oil for application as well. Eat more green vegetables, leafy vegetables and whole grains. Two to three spoons of Sugar cane syrup immediately after you experience a flow is a must. Milk and fruits have to form large part of the diet. Peaches, mandarins, purple colour grapes, bananas are excellent. Pomegranate seeds soaked in bee honey to be taken three times a day after meals. Avoid hot and spicy food; no alcohol; absolutely no meat products.

7. Colour

Medically orange will regulate the circulation of fluid and blood, and the best colour for menstruating women. Wear orange or light brown colour clothes; keep oranges in your bedroom or on the top of the bed. You can mix orange colour in tub with sprinkling of olive oil , drops of either Melissa or Saffron oil and immerse or wash yourself. Orange colour not only rejuvenates you but removes irritation , sense of anger and anxiety; it also makes your sex organs to respond well to medical care and cosmic solution; it gives you confidence, joy and a feeling of belonging. Orange colour works in two ways: one as depression buster , the other as a feeling of elation, you require both very badly in times of menstrual disorders. You know that orange colour is a mixture of red & yellow; red symbolizes personality and yellow represents wisdom. After using the colour orange you will sense a transformation within you.

8. Aroma

I strongly suggest the use of Sandalwood and Saffron on 50:50 bases. You can either use natural perfumery or in the eastern world the Attars. Use the mixture continually during the entire cycle in the morning and just before bed time.

9 Sunlight

Except in cases of Menorrhagia or Metrorragia, take a brisk walk of 14 to 21 minutes in the morning sunlight before or after Yoga-asana work-out.

Osteoarthritis is one of about 100 arthritic disorders affecting so many people around the globe. It is estimated that out of about 100 million sufferers globally, nearly 25 million are living in the United States alone. So far no wonder drug is found for this disability. Medical treatment is anchored upon the concept of pain management. Yet there is no understanding of the role of Cosmics neither in the minds of sufferers nor in the annals of medical research. Surely, for osteoarthritis cure from gems and cosmics is readily available. In this blog post, I describe osteoarthritis, a cosmic solution for it and the need to tailor-make such solution to individual circumstances.

1. Osteoarthritis

There are several symptoms: Prime amongst these is the un-bearable pain, combined with stiffness of the joints. Others include inflammation of the joints, muscle spasm, contraction in the tendons and deformation of the affected area. Some of the areas affected include hands, knee, hips and spine.

Pain management is the focus of treatment with pain-killers and supplements that enhance production of chondrocytes. Supplements include Glucosamine, Chondroitin sulphate and Vitamins C D and E. Depending on the sufferer, pain – management can take place in the following manner:

1. Use of pain-killers. However, continuous use interferes with the body’s natural ability to bear pain and transmit via the nerves

2. Tolerate pain. Sufferers are trained to bear with the pain. However, un-bearable pain can lead to mental strain and traumatic condition. Exercise and rest go with this treatment

Most occultists would recommend green colour for any type of chronic ailments in general. For those who suffer from osteoarthritis the colour green acts in number of ways; it modifies, rejuvenates and soothes your nerves and blood stream; it heals internal wounds and any tearing or laceration; it also regenerates the chondrocytes; it energizes both bone and muscle together. While emerald green makes your skin softer turquoise makes the skin stiffer. That is why I recommended either of the colours to be used for painting your bedroom.

2.4. Sunlight

Expose yourself to the orange sunlight at sun-down for 4 to 5 days. In case your skin is much softer with wrinkles then do the rounds for 3 days maximum per week.

2.5. Food

If you can afford, try to relish yourself on Seashells, which is a natural source of glucosamine. Much of the sea-food does well for you. In case of skin irritations avoid lobsters and prawns. Fish-oil is better for you. Omega fish oil is good for those who are fairly young. Sea weed jelly is highly recommended. Eat more green vegetables, leafy vegetables and lot of spinach, avocado and cucumber. A special item is “ladies finger” a vegetable in the tropics, which however would increase cold. Meat products are taboo. Whole grain and partially ripe green fruits are excellent. There is one in coastal areas in Asia called “Palmyra fruit”. Their inner part (known as Nungu in Tamil) is a panacea.

2.6. Water Therapy

Depending on your body frame you could be affected by either extreme cold or hot condition. Analyse yourself and after finding your status take a cotton cloth soak it in either cold or hot water mixed with few drops of Eucalyptus oil and daub on the affected area in the afternoon before sun-down or minutes after that. You can do this on alternate days.

Metals can be used independently or as along with gems & crystals as outer or holder. I recommend yellow or white gold with appropriate alloy with copper and zinc but less nickel. Those who prefer silver in place of gold can do so using sterling silver with appropriate alloy percentage of zinc, copper and silicate.

3. Colour

Wear yellow colour clothes; paint your bed room in yellow with a purple flourish. If you have chronic diabetic condition affecting normal family life more purple may be used. Cosmic Sunbath during December Solstice

Summer solstice is a season of merry making, outing and holidaying. During the December solstice people in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many countries south of Equator are to receive a great boon from the Sun. Yes, it is the cosmic shower of the Sun conjoining with 3 great star clusters to bring upon the earth vivid and bright sunlight. This would benefit everybody, especially newly married ladies, pregnant women and the nursing mothers. They have to just get out from their homes and expose themselves to the cosmic glare of the Sun. Let me explain about the Solstice, the Sun with 3 clusters and about the cosmic bath.

1. December Solstice

Most of us in northern hemisphere know December as a cold month with lot of ice and snow. Hence December solstice starts the winter in the north. But for those who live in the southern hemisphere it is summer in December. It heralds them the time to go on holidays: sun, sea, sand and sud; frolicking in the beaches and snorkelling under the salty water or perhaps sauntering in the sand or in any open space.

Solstice, the word originated from the Romans. They called it “solstitium” meaning “Sun stands”. During this time the day was so long that the Romans thought the Sun stopped rotating. We know that the Sun does not rotate but the earth does. The earth rotates on its axis with a tilt, which is currently calculated as 23 degrees and 44 minutes. Consequently, we have seasons: spring, summer fall (autumn) and winter. The tilt also results in alternate season for the northern and southern hemispheres. For example during the June solstice it is summer in the north but winter in the south. Likewise during the December solstice it is winter in north and summer in south.

This year, the summer solstice takes place on Sunday, December 21 after 4 minutes passed Noon (UTC/GMT). At this time the Sun would be directly overhead on the Tropic of Capricorn, an imaginary line drawn over the latitude 23.80 South. Let us look at Alice Springs, a city in Northern Territory, Australia which is located in the path of the Tropic of Capricorn. By adjusting for the local time, the December Solstice begins sharp at 9.34 p.m., on December 21. At this moment the Sun reaches Right Ascension 12.00 hours with a declination (latitude) of 23.50 degrees South. From Alice Springs if you travel south you will see the Sun rising late in the day. As you reach latitude 66 degree South, which is Antarctic Circle you will see the Sun rising in the horizon in the middle of the day, a fascinating scene to watch.

2. The Sun & Three Star Clusters

When the Sun reaches the solstice point, that is Right Ascension 12.00 hours, it is in the Sagittarius constellation with three excellent companions. They are M 20 Trifid, M8 Lagoon and M21 Open, all of which are clusters of stars. This phenomenon commences on Saturday, December 20 and lasts till Friday December 26. Interestingly on Monday, December 22, the Sun conjuncts M20 Trifid, that is to say, it completely covers the cluster. The cosmic rays emanating from the synthesis of the Sun and the three clusters would make wonders for you. So the entire week must be flagged in your diary for an appointment with the Sun. A brief astronomical note on the three star clusters is given below:

M 20 Trifid : Located at Right Ascension 18.03 hours, it is a diffused nebulae type with plenty of stars, in the Sagittarius constellation. The cluster is somewhat faint to the naked eye at 9.0 of visual magnitude and it is about 5200 light years away in distance. This Cluster has a three-lobed look like three petals of a flower. Crimson to red colour rays emanate from the cluster with a bluish reflection. Its stars give lot of heat and reddish colour

M8 Lagoon : Though similar to M20 Trifid in terms of type and distance, it is much brighter at a visual magnitude of 6.0. It is located very close to the Trifid at Right Ascension 18.06. The cluster is surrounded by a cloud of inter-stellar matters emanating blue rays. It is full of young and bright stars, and a spectacular sight to look at during a dark night. This cluster has an inner-cluster called “hourglass nebulae” famous for the bright star “Herschel 36”. Because of this star and the inner-cluster, M8 Lagoon emits high energy radiation into the space

M21 Open : Unlike the first two clusters, this one has evolved stars, something like grown-up children. Located at Right Ascension 18.08 the cluster is bright at 6.5 of visual magnitude. It is about 4250 light years way. It is heavy in the middle with so many stars concentrating in the centre. About 57 large stars send down massive blue to whitish rays into the space.

3. Cosmic Bath

When you expose yourself to the Sun during this period you will get cosmic sun bath. Every healthy person can sit, stand, saunter or just lie down in an open space to receive the cosmic rays coming down to earth, which is a blend of the Sun and its three companion clusters. Those who are not so healthy can stay in a closed area or at home but allow as much sun rays to enter into their body as possible. Generally rays of the sun give you seven type of energy which we describe by colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. During the solstice week of December 20 to 26, the energy is enhanced and accentuated and the entire range of seven colours would be readily available.

Cosmic sunbath neutralizes or eliminates negative energy in your body and replaces it with positive flows running through your spinal cord to the brain stimulating action and re-action. This makes you confident, healthy and brimming with zest. It also makes your mind work smarter and enhances the skin and body function. In terms of health, cosmic sunbath acts as tranquilizer and up-lifter of moods at one and the same time. It gives the skin a beautiful and smooth tan. More Vitamin D is produced and many disorders are relieved.

Moreover, cosmic sun bath is an aid and supplement for every person irrespective of age, gender and station of life; pregnant women, nursing mothers and the newly -wed ladies would benefit immensely. The last one UVC is more damaging than the rest but is prevented by earth’s ozone layer from penetrating down. The other two UVA and UVB affect the skin. In order to off-set the ill effects of these UV rays; the skin produces Melanin which helps tanning the skin so that the skin on its own does sun screening. Those who have melanin disorders would develop pigmentation of skin, wrinkles and skin disorders including cancer. The following are precautionary guide-lines:

  • If you have skin complaints or low level of melanin keep out of the Sun
  • Sunbath is usually between 7.00 to 11.00 in the morning
  • Always wear a Sun-glass
  • Wear a hat or cover your head by cloth
  • Do not look at the Sun directly
  • Apply a suitable sun cream on your body
  • Wear clothes made of cotton or mixture with higher percentage of cotton
  • Senior citizens should go for sun-bath in late afternoon
  • Pregnant women should screen for patches or pregnancy marks on their face or elsewhere in the body. If these patches are prominent then it is better to stay under an umbrella or canopy and avoid direct sunlight. If anytime during sun-bathing you feel de-hydration you should immediately retire to a room
  • Nursing mothers should go out for 30 minutes or so daily during this week between 7.30 to 10.30 in the morning

5. Watermelon

Cosmic sun-bath is never complete until you eat enough of water melons. We enact the Zoroastrian custom and practice during solstice and relish as much as possible eating the reddish inner chunks of this great fruit.

Geminids Meteor Shower: Relief to Mentally Retarded Children

A key issue faced by the parents of mentally retarded children is the absence of medication or relief. Roughly estimated to be about 2 to 3 per centum of population, mentally retarded children show signs of retardation at much early age. For the parents such children cause much anxiety. They need to be given special guidance in the way they could conduct themselves in social skills and learning. Most of these children cannot lead normal lives without aid and assistance. Though it is no longer a social stigma, mentally retarded children often feel that they are neglected. Special care by professionals along with cosmics could bring sought after relief to these children. In this regard, the heaven sent boon is the Geminids meteor shower that takes place during December, the season of gifts and care. Let me explain to you about the Meteor showers and how best you can make use of these.

1. Meteors

You have heard about meteor showers or shooting stars or falling stars. There are millions of these shooting stars seen throughout the year. Most of the showers are named after the constellation they originate from. Perseids for example has its name from Perseus constellation; Leonids and Orionids take their names from Leo and Orion constellations respectively. When you look at the night sky generally after mid-night you will observe streaks of light flicking away in the sky for a second or two. What you see is not a physical matter, because most of these meteors are so small to be seen from the earth, but the atmospheric reaction when these fast moving meteors hit at the earth’s atmosphere resulting in a friction between the air molecules and the surface of the meteor. So you see the burning of the gaseous particles in glowing colour.

This is how the meteors begin. Usually comets pass through the Sun in their orbit and when they get closer to the Sun, they shed parts of their matter. These are known as Meteoroids which travel alone or in a group in the vast expanse of the space. When some of these meteoroids enter into the earth’s orbit we call them Meteors to distinguish from the earlier ones. Most of these meteors burn out as shooting stars. But some of these are large enough to breakthrough and finally hit at the surface of earth, thence these are referred to as Meteorites.

2. Geminids

First discovered in 1862, Geminids stream has its radiant or origin from the Gemini constellation. The stream builds up slowly and peaks for couple of days and then peters out. It begins on December 8 when you see one or two shooting stars per hour. On December 13 & 14 you can observe about 120 shooting stars per hour. As it tails off you see about 2 falling stars per hour. These shooting stars slam at 25 miles per second and offer a magnificent vista to look at in the early hours between 1 to 5 a.m.

3. Cosmics of Geminids

The Geminids stream, unique on several counts has much cosmic relevance to children, especially to the ones who are handicapped:

1. Unlike in the case of all other meteor showers, Geminids do not originate from the debris of a comet, bur from the splinters of an Asteroid. The parent of the Geminids was identified in 1983 and named as “3200 Phaethon”. Incidentally, the parent asteroid is credited with a rare honour. It orbits the Sun and gets too close for comfort, resulting in the fascinating Geminids stream

2. Both planet Jupiter and our Moon have cosmic influence over this Asteroid.

3. During the peak of the shower in December 2008, the Moon is in Taurus constellation belonging to Venus and Jupiter is in its own Sagittarius constellation. The Geminids emanate orange and yellow colour shooting stars, considered to be most auspicious for the children

4. Geminids bring in energy that stimulate mental faculty. Those children who are under the age of 16 would benefit immensely.

4. Viewing

If you can stand the December cold, snow and perhaps the snippy air you can view the celestial phenomenon or December 13 & 14, between 1 00 a.m. to 5.00 a.m. local time.

a) Northern Hemisphere: Look towards East and almost over-head; Mark Betelgeuse a red giant star in the Orion constellation (alpha Orion Right Ascension 5.9 hour and Declination 7 degree North); from there turn your eyes towards the North-East. You will see Castor, a white star in the Gemini constellation (alpha Gemini Right Ascension 7.6 hour and Declination 33 degree North). Just above the Castor you will see the falling stars.

b) Southern Hemisphere: Look towards West and to the Horizon; Mark Betelgeuse; from there turn your eyes towards the North-west. You will see Castor and just above the shooting stars.

5. Useful Hints

a) It is necessary to protect mentally retarded children from the cold, snow and the wind

b) Staying in open and flat place is recommended

c) Provide comfortable seating arrangements

d) Children should be accompanied with the adults and not left alone

e) Viewing the Geminids stream by naked eye is recommended

6. Harnessing Energy

One of the recommendations given for the care of mentally retarded children is to take them along for a walk or an excursion or to while away their time away from home. You can add little adventure too. What best adventure than looking at the mid-night sky in December with the cool air snipping you and the delight of looking at those orange and yellow steaks falling all over these children. Not only that, the Geminids stream will give these children pleasure and a bit of panacea. So go and harness the energy while you can have it. However, depending on particulars of date, time and place of birth of the children, harnessing of the cosmic Geminids energy would require different colour of attire and accessories such as metals to be worn with.

ED Explained
